Market launch of new boiled linseed oil additive
The manufacturer of BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitt®, a single-component sealant for critical metallic joints which need to withstand pressure and temperature, today announced the market launch of its new boiled linseed oil to add to this product which has been tried and tested worldwide for 60 years.
Available now under order number AIS B020, the new boiled linseed oil is supplied in one-litre plastic bottles and has a shelf life of five years if stored correctly.
The boiled linseed oil was developed especially for use with its main product BIRKOSIT® with a view to making the sealant easier to apply and spread.
As compared to commercially available products which have been added to BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitt® until now, the boiled linseed oil comes with a guarantee of 10 years which is a major advantage in industrial use! Please refer to the product data sheet for more detailed information.
Expansion of production and storage capacity
Having enjoyed continued growth over the years and having added new products to the range, the company had also gradually reached the limits of its storage capacity.
Therefore it was time to look for larger premises – and the right place was found very close to the existing headquarters.

Product development
Following development work on BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitt® sealing compound, the product release and launch date was set for 01.10.2009. Boasting temperature resistance of up to 900 °C and pressure resistance of up to 250 bar, the new specifications had been the subject of close collaboration with Siemens Power Generation Energy Sector in the quest to meet its design requirements for the next generation of SST steam turbines and SGT gas turbines.

The company was kept running by the founder’s wife, Ilse Schulze.

Siemens approached chemical engineer Henning Schulze to discuss the development of a product for sealing steam and gas turbines. Three years of close collaboration eventually resulted in the development of the product.
In the years that followed, the product went on to have a monopoly at Siemens Energy where it was the sealant of choice for its steam and gas turbines.
